Former Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain says he is making it his mission to convince more black people to vote for the Republican Party.
“When you study the issues, it’s evident that the GOP’s policies are more in line with Black Americans,” said Cain in a blog post. “The Republican Party believes in getting tough on crime and we want to give police the latest weapons and technology to go after criminals. Police also need to be free from having to worry about lawsuits. If they need to shoot someone or hit them with a nightstick, they probably deserved it.”
Cain, who suggested his Secret Service code name should be “cornbread,” also advised the black community on how to handle being arrested.
“Police officers have to do their job,” Cain said. “Think about how many cops hurt themselves when they are hitting people with night sticks? Black men should smile more, show off them pearly whites. Let people know they are non threatening.”
He said he was confident he could help build bridges between the black community and the GOP.
“Republicans need to convince black people they are friendly to them, and erase the idea they are hostile to black people,” he said. “This idea was pushed by the liberal media.”
Cain offered to take pictures with more white Republicans to show they are serious about diversity.
“They can even touch my hair,” Cain said.
