In the wake of the Orlando night club attack, President Barack Obama is facing the usual criticism from the right over his handling of terrorism. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump implied that Obama is deliberately not doing enough. But conservative commentator Michael Savage went even further. He stated he believes Obama is a member of the Iraq-based terrorist group, ISIS.
“When I look at how Obama has not strongly condemned radical Islam, I have to suspect he might be a card-carrying member of ISIS,” said Savage on his radio show. “That’s the only reason why he has failed to eradicate the group.”
According to Media Matters’ Eric Boehlert, right-wingers have a long history of smearing Obama as a Muslim or a Muslim-sympathizer. Boehlert said that last year after the Paris terrorist attacks, Sen. Ted Cruz said, “Obama does not wish to defend this country.”
In 2013, after the Boston Marathon bombing, radio show host Bill Cunningham said, “maybe his middle name is a clue, as well as the fact that he spent his childhood practicing the Muslim faith.”
And controversial FOX News medical expert Dr. Keith Ablow also doubted Obama’s loyalties.
“Barack Obama does not have the will of the American people, Americanism in his soul,” he said.
