Republican candidate Donald Trump recently introduced Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate. Pence, an Evangelical Christian, is seen as someone who will appeal to the far-right of the Republican Party. As it turns out Pence, is far more conservative than Trump. While serving as governor, Pence tried to introduce legislation that would outlaw sodomy, anal sex in particular.
In a press release, Pence said anal sex was an unnatural sex act condemned by the Bible.
“House Bill 69 bill would outlaw anal sex, even between heterosexual couples,” said Pence. “The Good Lord built the vagina for sex, and that’s the way we need to keep. Anal sex just sets people down the path of perversion.”
According to the Daily Beast, Pence passed several anti-gay measures. He pushed through the Religious Restoration Act, which allowed businesses to refuse service to gay customer. That law eventually cost the state of Indiana $60 million in lost revenue as businesses boycotted the state.
Pence also called for a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage and called homosexuality “incompatible with military behavior.”
