George Zimmerman, who became a national figure after he was cleared of murdering black teenager Trayvon Martin, has announced that he plans to campaign with Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“I’m supporting Trump because he is the law and order candidate, and he will crack down on terrorist groups like Black Lives Matter and ISIS,” said Zimmerman in an interview with the Conservative Chronicle.

“I’m glad to have George on the team,” said Trump. “He has proven to be a great advocate for Second Amendment rights.”

Zimmerman has suffered mixed fortunes since his acquittal. Although he has become a hero among gun rights advocates, he has had frequent run ins with the law and has been accused of domestic violence. He is currently facing charges for shooting a man who fired at him first.
