Supporters of Donald Trump are not done with the birther issue. According to a press release by the National White Alliance, spokesman Brian Blanc said he hopes the Republican presidential nominee will continue to look into President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.
“Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he believes the birth certificate that was presented to the public is fake,” said Blanc. “And Arpaio is a lawman of impeccable character. I hope President Trump appoints a special prosecutor to look into this issue.”
Blanc said he hoped an investigation would reveal criminal wrongdoing.
“Obama presented falsified documents, that is forgery,” said Blanc. “That should be enough to get him convicted of a felony and deported back to Africa, the country of his birth.”
Blanc isn’t the only person who wants to exile Obama.
FOX News commentator Sean Hannity recently said he wanted to deport the whole Obama family.
“I have an offer for the president,” said Hannity on his radio show. “I will charter a plane for you and your family. I will make sure it’s as big a plane as Air Force One, what you have grown accustom to, in other words. Taxpayer-funded plane … You want to go to Canada? I’ll pay for you to go to Canada. You want to go to Kenya? I’ll pay for you to go to Kenya. Jakarta, where you went to school back in the day, you can go back there. Anywhere you want to go. I’ll put the finest food, caviar, champagne, you name it. I have one stipulation, you can’t come back.”
Hannity offer sounds a lot like the “Go back to Africa” comment made by racists. Hannity has an ugly history on race issues. Hal Turner, a white supremacist and convicted felon, was a regular caller to Hannity’s radio show.
Trump’s courting of the so-called alt-right (racists) has pushed some conservatives over the edge. In a recent Washington Post column, conservative blogger Jennifer Rubin argued that racism has been mainstreamed on FOX News.
“We’ve noted before that Donald Trump’s campaign rhetoric is an extension of the crackpot right-wing media, his appearance paved by years of conspiracy theories, dog-whistles, paranoia and, yes, appeals to racism and ridicule of women,” said Rubin. “And where did Trump go to fan the flames of birtherism all those years? His go-to Fox shows (“Fox and Friends,” Hannity, etc.) gave him free rein to peddle his snake oil.”
