Televangelist Jim Bakker has suggested that President-elect Donald Trump pass a law requiring immigrants who are being sworn in as American citizens recite the Lord’s Prayer alongside the Pledge of Allegiance.

“America was founded as a Christian country, so it’s only right that we recognize the Lord during this ceremony,” said Bakker on his television show. “Also, this is a way of screening out Sharia-worshipping Muslims.”

However, the Constitution guarantees freedom of religion. Bakker also believes that Trump was ordained by God and hopes he will hasten the return of Jesus Christ.

Bakker isn’t the only Christian who believes that America should prevent Muslim immigration.

According to Right Wing Watch, Sam Rohrer of the American Pastors Network thinks we should be “pointing them (new immigrants) to the God of Heaven.”

“Now we have millions of people,” said Rohrer, “who are here for the wrong reasons, been invited in by people with wrong motives and now we have a people here, large numbers of them who have no respect for our God, they serve primarily the god of Allah and they embrace Sharia law.

Rohrer fails to realize that Allah means “God” in Arabic and Islam is one of the world’s three Abrahamic religions.
