President-elect Donald Trump says Dr. Ben Carson will do a great job as secretary for Housing and Urban Development, even though he has no experience in that area.

“HUD deals with a lot of black people who live in poor areas and Ben grew up in the ghetto, like a lot of blacks,” said Trump in a press release. “He knows these issues. He’s lived it.”

Carson, who ran against Trump for the Republican presidential nomination, is a curious pick for HUD secretary. He is a former neurosurgeon whose expertise is medicine. Last month Carson turned down a post in the Trump administration because he didn’t have the right experience, according to his advisor Armstrong Williams.

“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he’s never run a federal agency,” said Williams in an interview with The Hill. “The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency.”
