President-elect Donald Trump has praised controversial Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte. In an interview with the Patriot Media Sentinel, Trump called Duterte a “man of action” who could get things done.

“I like his style,” said Trump. “He’s showing leadership, he’s making tough decisions. I wish we could deal with criminals like that over here.”

However, Duterte has been criticized for his crackdown on crime. His government is operating death squads who are summarily arresting and executing drug suspects without trial. According to the BBC, more than 6,000 people have been killed in Duterte’s war on crime since it was launched in May.

Duterte recently threatened to kill criminals in a unique way.

“If you are corrupt, I will fetch you using a helicopter to Manila and I will throw you out,” said Duterte in a BBC interview. “I have done this before, why would I not do it again?
