FOX News commentator has scolded “whining liberals” and urged them to respect President-elect Donald Trump.
“Liberals need to put down their lattes and protest signs and get behind Trump,” said O’Reilly on “The O’Reilly Factor.” “That’s the way a democracy works, when the election is over you support the president. That’s what the Republican Party did when Obama was elected in 2008.”
O’Reilly’s opinion is shared by Sen. Mitch McConnell. According to the Huffington Post, McConnell recently advised Democrats to work with Republicans on a Supreme Court nomination.
“I think that’s something the American people simply will not tolerate and we’ll be looking forward to receiving a Supreme Court nomination and moving forward on it,” said McConnell in a press conference.
Both O’Reilly and McConnell’s comments are ironic because Republicans became infamous for their refusal to work with President Barack Obama on anything. Obama passed his signature legislation, the Affordable Care Act, without a single Republican vote.
In 2010 McConnell said his no. 1 priority was to make Obama “a one-term president.”
