Televangelist Jim Bakker has again thanked God for the election of President Donald Trump. But he went even further.
“I praise the Lord for the election of Donald Trump,” said Bakker on his TV show. “Under Obama, Christians were in bad shape, being openly arrested for disobeying laws that gave gays special rights. We were in the same position as the blacks in the pre-Civil Rights era.”
Franklin Graham, son of famed evangelist Billy Graham, also shared a similar opinion on FOX News. Graham said Christians in America were being persecuted like Christians in Iraq,
“A lot of this right now of course is the Middle East, but we see Christians being persecuted in Asia, Indonesia, much of this by Muslims,” he said. “But it is happening around the world and we even have some persecution in this country where Christian businesses have been targeted by gay and lesbian groups that want to put them out of business because they know that these businesses will not support the gay lifestyle. So they go after them and get them fines, get them put out of business. This is happening worldwide.”
According to the Pew Research Center, Christians make up 70 percent of the U.S. population. Iraq’s Christians make up 6 percent of the population.
