National Security Advisor Gen. H.R. McMaster might be the next high-ranking White House official on the chopping block. McMaster has drawn the ire of the far-right, who accuse him of not being pro-Israel enough and refusing to use the Islamic terrorism label.
Some of the commenters on Breitbart went even further by calling McMaster “a light-skinned black Panther,” “bald-headed buffoon” and “a secret Muslim.” (Right wingers also spread the rumor that former CIA Director John Brennan was a secret Muslim.)
“I’d like to see his birth certificate,” said a poster called RushRules. “How can we be sure he’s not passing for white?”
Far-right conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney said McMaster needed to be fired for being “‘insubordinate to his commander in chief’ in areas such as Islamic terrorism,” according to Breitbart.
However, McMaster, who replaced Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, has clashed with the far-right faction of the Trump administration, lead by Steve Bannon.
McMaster may have also run afoul of President Donald Trump, because he knows more about international affairs than he does.
However, MSNBC intelligence analyst Malcolm Nance pointed out that the American far-right may be influenced by Russia. He said the #firemcmaster hashtag has shown a 5300 percent increase and most of the traffic was coming from Russian bots. According to the New York Times, the #firemcmaster hashtag has been retweeted 50,000 times.
