The National White Alliance, a Neo-Nazi group, is angry about the practice of renaming Columbus Day Native American or Indigenous People’s day.

In recent years, some liberal cities have adopted this practice as people have reevaluated the legacy of Christopher Columbus, who has been dubbed the first European to discover America. But recent scholars say Columbus also raped, murdered and enslaved Native Americans.

The National White Alliance said downplaying Columbus’ legacy is another example of “white genocide.”

“This new liberal, snowflake habit of calling Columbus Day Native American People’s Day is a political form of white genocide,” said Brian Blanc, National White Alliance president. “Liberals seem to want to erase white men erase history.”

The National White Alliance isn’t the only person who still holds Columbus, an Italian mercenary who got lost on the way to India, in high esteem.

According to Raw Story, President Donald Trump differed from President Barack Obama who used the day to talk about Columbus’ slaughter of Native Americans.

“As we mark this rich history, we must also acknowledge the pain and suffering reflected in the stories of Native Americans who had long resided on this land prior to the arrival of European newcomers,” said Obama in 2016.

However, Trump described Columbus as “the skilled navigator and man of faith, whose courageous feat brought together continents.” He also failed to mention Native Americans.

Bill O’Reilly also supported maintaining Columbus Day in a column in The Hill.

“Christopher Columbus was not a villain and does not deserve the vilification the PC police are heaping upon him. Every person on the planet has done bad things, but it is the totality of a human being that should be the litmus test. Soon, the loons will come for the slaveholders George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. In fact, the Dallas school board is now debating their diminishment right now,” said O’Reilly.

Also, conservative website The Daily Wire marked Columbus Day by publishing a racist video that depicted Native Americans as cannibalistic savages only civilized by Europeans.
