Controversial R&B singer R. Kelly has entered the fierce Alabama senatorial race between Democrat Doug Jones and Republican Judge Roy Moore. Moore has been accused of child abuse by several women.

According to Hip Hop Today, Kelly said he had prayed over this issue and decided to support Moore.

“I know what it’s like to have your name dragged through the mud,” said Kelly.

Kelly, a Grammy-winning singer, has been dogged by several accusations of sex with underage girls. In the mid-1990s a video circulated of a man who looked like Kelly urinating on a girl in her young teens. However, Chicago prosecutors dropped the case when the girl’s family refused to testify. More recently Kelly has been accused of keeping young women in a “sex cult.”

Moore was recently endorsed by President Donald Trump, who has also been accused of sexual harassment by several women.

“Putting Pelosi/Schumer Liberal Puppet Jones into office in Alabama would hurt our great Republican Agenda of low on taxes, tough on crime, strong on military and borders…& so much more,” said Trump in a post on Twitter.

He also said, “Democrats refusal to give even one vote for massive Tax Cuts is why we need Republican Roy Moore to win in Alabama. We need his vote on stopping crime, illegal immigration, Border Wall, Military, Pro Life, V.A., Judges 2nd Amendment and more. No to Jones, a Pelosi/Schumer Puppet!”

On CNN Janet Porter, a Moore spokesperson, fought back against the accusations. Porter said that Moore’s stance against abortion was the most important thing.

“If you care about child abuse, you should be talking about the fact that Judge Moore stands for protection… for the rights of babies, like the eight-month old baby that you’re carrying now,” said Porter in a contentious interview with Poppy Harlow. “Doug Jones says you can take the life of that baby!”
