FOX News commentator Eric Bolling has urged “whiny liberals” to stop protesting and accept the results of the 2016 presidential election.
“Look, it was a clean election,” said Bolling on “The Five.” “It’s time to stop whining and accept the results. The protests they’re doing are borderline treasonous.”
Bolling’s opinion was shared by Vice President-elect Mike Pence in an interview on “FOX News Sunday.”
“Donald Trump won this election fair and square,” said Pence, according to Politico. “The American people know that, and while I have great respect for John Lewis and his contributions, particularly with the civil rights movement, I was deeply disappointed to see someone of his stature question the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s election as president and say he’s not attending the inauguration.”
Rep. John Lewis sparked a media storm after he declared Trump was “not legitimate” and he would boycott the inauguration.
However, contrary to the opinions of Bolling and Pence, the 2016 elections was fraught with problems. American intelligence agencies have confirmed that the Russians used hacking and propaganda to support the Trump campaign. FBI Director James Comey also released a memo to the media about Hillary Clinton being under investigation, which turned out to be false, and thousands of minority voters’ names were scrubbed from rolls by Crosscheck, a faulty verification system.
According to investigative journalist Greg Palast, Trump won Michigan by about 13,000 voters. However, Crosscheck purged about 450,000 black, Latino and Asian voters from the polls. The system was devised by Kansas Sec. of State Kris Kobach, a Trump supporter.
The GOP used a similar method of voter suppression to win Florida for President George W. Bush in 2000.
