The Business Standard News has received reports former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is considering divorcing his wife, Callista, in the hopes of launching another presidential run. Gingrich failed to gain the Republican nomination in 2012.
An insider close to Gingrich says he is thinking of trading Callista in for a newer wife, in the hopes of improving his image.
“Newt traded in his second wife for Callista, because he thought she could help him become president,” said the insider. “He is thinking about marrying a younger wife, in the hope she will make him appeal to young voters.”
Although a proponent of traditional family values, Gingrich has been married three times. He handed his first wife, Jackie Battley, divorce papers after she was recovering from cancer surgery. (Battley was his high school geometry teacher.) He divorced his second wife, Marianne Ginther, his former mistress, because he didn’t think she was first lady material. Ginther said Gingrich gave her the news of the divorce a few months after she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. When she discovered he was cheating on her, Gingrich suggested they have an open marriage. He married his third wife Callista Bisek, who was also his former mistress. The Gingrichs are Catholics.
