Although President Donald Trump has been consistently dogged by rumors about ties to Russia, his supporters consistently downplay the accusations. Vox recently interviewed some Trump supporters from the Midwest and they said “they couldn’t care less” about the Russian allegations.
“I’m tired of hearing about the Russia thing. Let it go and move on. The media is the one that’s propagating it. They just won’t let it die,” said Nancy Androsky.
Several posters on Stormfront, a white supremacist site, have also voiced their support for Trump.
“So what if half of his advisors have ties to Russia, his son-in-law tried to set up a secret back channel with the Russian government and his son tried to meet with a Russian government lawyer? That doesn’t mean anything,” said a poster called FloridaTrooper88. “At least he’s working with a white Christian country, unlike Obozo who has ties to them Muslim spear chuckers in Africa.”
Other right-wing commentators continue to downplay Trump’s Russian ties. Conservative radio show host Dennis Prager claimed the media was more dangerous than Vladimir Putin. And on CNN, commentator Jeffrey Lord said Donald Trump Jr. meeting with Russians was the same as Democrats meeting with DREAMers.
