FOX Insider: Defending Trump is Like Doing PR for Harvey Weinstein

FOX News insider “Chip” has contacted the Business Standard News claiming that the network is facing an internal revolt, as employees balk at being forced to spin President Donald Trump’s scandal-ridden presidency.

“Some people here have had enough. Defending Trump’s shenanigans is like doing PR for Harvey Weinstein,” said Chip.

A CNN article also echoed this point. Some FOX employees said the network has become a 24-hour, pro-Trump operation.

“I’m watching now and screaming,” said an unnamed Fox News personality in a text to CNN. “I want to quit.”

“It’s an embarrassment,” said another Fox News employee. “Frankly, there are shows on our network that are backing the President at all costs, and it’s that short-term strategy that undermines the good work being done by others.”

As headlines blared about Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller’s indictment of Paul Manafort and other members of the Trump campaign, FOX News acted like it never happened. On Monday, FOX News featured a story about emojis, ignoring the Mueller indictment.

Media Matters detailed FOX’s attempts to avoid talking about the indictments.

“But viewers of Fox News’ morning show, Fox & Friends, saw something very different,” said Matt Getz. “Co-hosts Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt, and Brian Kilmeade spent the last hour of their broadcast alternatively downplaying the news and looking for potential outs for the president. The program’s hosts and guests warned that the investigation was a case of the dangerous criminalization of political differences, complained that aggressive prosecutors sometimes coerce false confessions, posited that the charges might actually be good news for the president, and suggested the real scandal was that news of the indictments had been illegally leaked. They quickly changed the subject to trumped-up scandals involving Democrats. As their competitors rightfully focused on the breaking news, the show found time to discuss top Halloween candies and small-bore stories of purported liberal media bias.”

FOX News also tried to deflect blame by ginning up a fake story about Hillary Clinton being tied to a uranium deal with Russia. This story was debunked last year.
