Donald Trump’s vice president Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is seen as a choice that will connect Trump with the conservative wing of the Republican Party. But while Pence might be seen as an archconservative, his views differ from mainstream America.
For example, he doesn’t believe in climate change. Spence thinks it’s a conspiracy cooked up to kill the American auto industry.
“We don’t need more fuel efficiency,” said Pence in a radio interview. “It’s your right as an American to drive the biggest vehicle you want. And most of those big trucks are American-made anyway. It’s supporting American businesses. Driving small cars hurts the American auto industry.”
“Global warming is a myth,” said Pence in an article on his website. “The global warming treaty is a disaster. There, I said it … The chant is ‘the sky is warming! the sky is warming!”
Pence’s running mate also doesn’t believe in climate change, although he did at once, according to The Huffington Post. In a post on Twitter, Trump called global warming a Chinese-led hoax.
“The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive,” said Trump.
